HUNTINGTON – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident in Huntingburg, where an adult female and a child were found deceased inside a home on Geiger Street Monday afternoon.
The Huntingburg Police Department responded to a call at approximately 3:37 p.m. to the residence located at 107 North Geiger Street following a report of an individual found inside with blood around them. Deaconess Memorial EMS and the Huntingburg Fire Department were also dispatched.
Upon entering the home, officers discovered an unresponsive adult female and a juvenile child. Despite immediate life-saving efforts performed at the scene and during transport to Deaconess Memorial Hospital, both individuals were pronounced deceased.
Police have indicated that the suspected cause of death for at least one of the victims was a dog attack. All dogs residing in the home have since been removed from the premises.
The Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technicians were called to process the scene as part of the ongoing and active investigation.
In a statement released by the Huntingburg Police Department, officials stated that they do not suspect any foul play and believe there is no threat to public safety.
“Our condolences are with the family and friends of this very tragic event,” the department said.
