Clean Water Act grants available for pollution reduction

INDIANA – The Federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) provides funding for various types of projects that work to reduce nonpoint source water pollution. Funds may be used to conduct assessments, develop and implement TMDLs and watershed management plans, provide technical assistance, demonstrate new technology, and provide education and outreach.

  • Eligible Entities: Nonprofit organizations, universities, and local, state, and federal agencies.
  • The amount available is approximately $2,000,000 annually. Grants cover 60% of project costs, and a 40% matching contribution is required. Federal funds cannot be used for matching.
  • Grant Cycle: One application round per year.
     

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has announced the Fiscal Year 2026 solicitation for EPA Section 319 grants. (Note: As with many other federally funded programs, IDEM has yet to receive FY26 319 allocations.) The announcement and instructions may be found here.
