AUSTIN – An Austin man was arrested on Friday, April 11th, following an Indiana State Police (ISP) investigation into allegations of battery to a child.
The investigation began on April 4, 2025, when ISP Trooper Kyle Taylor responded to a report of possible battery involving a 4-year-old child. The alleged incident occurred the previous day, on Thursday, April 3, in Scott County. Trooper Taylor requested the assistance of an ISP detective to further the investigation.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the child underwent evaluation by a forensic team at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Officers also collaborated with investigators from the Indiana Department of Child Services, who interviewed the child on Thursday, April 10. Detectives also interviewed 31-year-old Joshua D. Wright in connection with the allegations.
After reviewing all the collected information on Friday, April 11, the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Joshua D. Wright. The warrant included charges of battery on a person less than 14 committed by a person at least 18, a Level 5 felony, and domestic battery against a child under 14, a Level 6 felony.
ISP detectives executed the arrest warrant the same day, taking Wright into custody without incident. Wright was subsequently transported to the Scott County Jail.
Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
