SEYMOUR – Seymour firefighters responded to a large fire at a factory Tuesday morning.
According to the Seymour Fire Department, crews were dispatched to Seymour Manufacturing on North Broadway Street at 6:47 a.m. Tuesday. All three Seymour fire stations responded to the scene and encountered heavy smoke and significant flames emanating from the building’s roof.

The fire appeared to be concentrated in the factory’s “wax dip” area, where fire starter blocks are produced.
Firefighters utilized aerial trucks on two sides of the building to suppress the flames from above, while crews with hand lines entered the structure to combat the fire from the inside. The fire department reported that the blaze was controlled within 30 minutes.

Firefighters remained on the scene for over six hours to conduct overhaul operations and ensure complete extinguishment.
All workers were safely evacuated from the factory. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
