SHOALS – Residents on the west end of the Shoals water system are under a boil water advisory following power outages caused by the severe storm on March 15, 2025.
The storm’s impact resulted in electrical power loss at the town’s booster stations, leading to a significant drop in water pressure for customers in the affected area. The impacted area extends from the booster station on Lynwood Street to the end of the water line at Hopper Lane.
Due to the water pressure falling below 20 psi in this service area, a precautionary boil water advisory has been issued. Residents within this zone are urged to take the following safety measures:
- Boil Water: All water intended for cooking and drinking must be brought to a rolling boil five minutes before use.
- Continue Boiling: Residents should continue boiling their water until they are officially notified that the advisory has been lifted.
The Town of Shoals Water Department works diligently to resolve the issue and restore water service. They appreciate the cooperation of residents during this time.
Updates will be provided as the situation progresses and when the boil water advisory is lifted.
Residents with questions or concerns regarding the drinking water problem are encouraged to contact the Shoals Water Department at 812-247-2110.
