Man dies after falling through ice on Beaver Dam Lake

GREENE CO. – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday evening at Beaver Dam Lake in the Hillenbrand Fish and Wildlife Area.

At approximately 5:57 p.m., the Greene County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch received a call reporting that two men had fallen through the ice. Jasonville Police Officer Skylar Scott arrived at approximately 6:04 p.m. and rescued 20-year-old Cordell A. Foster using a rope throw bag.

The second victim, 20-year-old Justin D. Sprang, submerged and did not resurface. Conservation Officer divers, using an underwater remote-operated vehicle, recovered Sprang’s body from 16 feet of water at approximately 8:21 p.m.

Assisting agencies included the Jasonville Police Department, Worthington Police Department, Linton Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Linton Fire Department, Wright Township Fire Department, and the Greene County Coroner’s Office.
