Orleans town officials honor Deputy Marshall for aiding 97 year old WWII Vet

ORLEANS—On January 30, 2025, Orleans town officials gathered to publicly honor Deputy Marshall Gavin Bissonette for his actions and bravery.

Deputy Marshall Bissonette responded to a call at East Vincennes about an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Upon arrival, Deputy Marshall Bissonette made contact with the individual, who was a 97-year-old World War II veteran. The man was bleeding profusely, and Deputy Marshall Bissonette remained calm and, after examining the wound, applied a tourniquet, dressed the wound, and applied pressure before the arrival of firefighters and EMS personnel.

Town officials praised Deputy Marshall Bissonette’s reasonable judgment, efforts, and professionalism.
