Volunteers sought for Bloomington’s Adopt-a-Stream and Adopt-a-Greenspace programs

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington residents are invited to make a difference in their community by volunteering for the Adopt-a-Stream or Adopt-a-Greenspace programs. These two separate initiatives utilize volunteer power to help maintain Bloomington’s environment, ensuring it remains safe, clean, and accessible for everyone.

Volunteers commit to a one-year term at an assigned stream or greenspace from May 2025 to April 2026. Individuals, families, groups, and all other interested parties are encouraged to participate. Parks and Recreation staff will work with volunteers to select an area that best matches their skills, interests, and abilities.

A mandatory virtual orientation session will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will receive a Zoom link closer to the meeting date. Following the orientation, volunteers will attend an on-site training session with program leaders before beginning their service term.

The Adopt-a-Stream program offers the public an opportunity to actively participate in conserving and maintaining the natural beauty of streams located on public park property owned by the City of Bloomington and Monroe County.
