HUNTINGTON CO. – On Friday, February 14, around 5:35 p.m., the Indiana State Police were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on County Road 200 West just south of State Road 218 in Huntington County that claimed the life of a Ft. Wayne man.
The investigation determined a silver Chevrolet Impala was southbound on CR 200 W south of SR 218 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the center line, drove off the east side of the roadway, through a yard, and hit a large tree. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The driver’s identity is being withheld until the family has been notified.
Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash, and the driver was not wearing his seatbelt.
The Indiana State Police were assisted by the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, Markle Police Department, Mt. Etna Fire Department, Parkview EMS, A Plus Towing, and the Huntington County Coroner’s Office.
