Woman arrested on OWI charges after report of erratic driver

SPRINGVILLE – Alisha D. Morrow, 50, of Indianapolis, was arrested on a warrant after she was found driving under the influence and with a suspended license on August 17, 2024.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Thomas Porter responded to a report of erratic driving at the Dollar General in Springville, where they located Morrow in a gray Honda Pilot.

Morrow was visibly upset, admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the day, and agreed to a portable breath test, which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.268. Witnesses reported her driving erratically and crossing the centerline multiple times. Due to her emotional distress, Morrow was taken to IU Health Bedford for medical evaluation, where a blood draw later confirmed she had a blood-alcohol content of 0.196, well above the legal limit of 0.08.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Officer, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was detained on Tuesday, Feb. 5, on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, OWI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.15, and driving while her driver’s license was suspended.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
