Man violates protective order via Xbox message

LAWRENCE CO. – Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a Orleans man after he violated a protective order.

Adrian B. Cassidy, 30, was issued a protective order on October 25, 2024, and remained in effect until January 25, 2025.

On December 27, the victim received a message via Xbox from the Gamertag “Pookers94,” which, according to the victim, was associated with Cassidy. The message, sent at 4:19 p.m., contained statements that suggested an emotional response from Cassidy and a direct reference to violating the protection order. The message read, in part: “I hope you know you broke me… Call the law, say I violated the order. I do not care.”

The officer’s investigation revealed Cassidy attempted contact with the victim on January 28, 2025, via a phone call.

On January 29, Sergeant Compton contacted Cassidy, who neither confirmed nor denied sending the message.

Police determined Cassidy did send the messages. The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Cassidy’s arrest. He was arrested on Tuesday, February 4, on a charge of invasion of privacy.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
