CAMPBELLSBURG – A Campbellsburg resident was arrested Thursday morning following an investigation into an alleged violent altercation that occurred in late 2024.
Gerald P. Hamilton, 39, faces multiple felony charges after allegedly striking a man in the head with a handgun outside Hamilton’s residence and then pointing the weapon at the victim’s girlfriend, who witnessed the incident.

Indiana State Police Detective Mike Bennett led the investigation in September 2024. The investigation included witness interviews and evidence from Hamilton’s social media accounts, where he allegedly talked about the incident.
Following review by the Washington County Prosecutor, an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday charging Hamilton with battery using a deadly weapon and intimidation, both Level 5 felonies, and pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony.
Hamilton was arrested without incident at his residence by Indiana State Police officers and is being held without bond at the Washington County Jail pending his court appearance.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
