City of Bloomington Utilities issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for 17 addresses

BLOOMINGTON– On Wednesday, February 5, City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) crews were dispatched to repair a broken water main at West Oak Leaf and South Hickory Leaf Drives.

Seventeen addresses are under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory until 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, unless otherwise notified. Please find specific addresses and more information at bloomington.in.gov/utilities.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) requires all public water systems to issue a precautionary Boil Water Advisory when the pressure drops below 20 psi in the water main. Those affected should follow these instructions:

  • Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
  • Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes before consumption.
  • It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.

CBU customers may refer to the CBU website at bloomington.in.gov/utilities for a list of affected addresses. Affected customers with up-to-date contact information with CBU Customer Service were alerted directly. Customers can also use the form at bton.in/cbu24 to update their contact information electronically.
