Three arrested after fleeing from traffic stop in Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO CO.- A traffic stop in Kosciusko County on Saturday resulted in three arrests after all three vehicle occupants fled on foot but were tracked down.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Trooper Matthew Drudge attempted to stop a red 2003 Chevrolet SUV for equipment and registration violations on State Road 13, near East Fourth Street, in North Webster.

The driver of the Chevrolet is alleged to have attempted to elude police before entering Black Rocks Trailer Park.  Once in the trailer park, the driver of the Chevrolet continued to drive before eventually slowing down. Before the Chevrolet came to a stop, a female passenger in the back seat exited and fled on foot.  While she fled, the driver brought the Chevrolet to a stop, and he and a front-seat passenger also fled on foot.

Drudge chased the female through several yards, verbally commanding her to stop. The female did not comply and continued to run and was subsequently tased and taken into custody.  She was then identified as Heaven Tendziegloski, 36, of Syracuse, IN.  Tendziegloski was arrested for resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, as well as two active warrants for theft.

After taking Tendziegloski into custody, troopers attempted to locate the two males, who had also fled from the traffic stop.  Trooper John Wilson and his K9 partner, Daisy, were able to track one of the males in a wooded area over two miles from the traffic stop.  This male, the alleged driver of the Chevrolet, was taken into custody and identified as Tye Sommers, 35, of Syracuse, IN.  Sommers was arrested for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, Level 6 felony, and resisting law enforcement, Class A misdemeanor.

A K9 officer from Winona Lake Police Department arrived to assist with tracking the remaining passenger, who had also fled.  After another extensive K9 track, officers found the male hiding in a wooded area over a mile from the traffic stop.  He was taken into custody and identified as Travis Vanover, 49, of Syracuse, IN. Vanover was arrested for resisting law enforcement, Class A misdemeanor, and an active warrant for driving while his driver’s license was suspended with a prior conviction and a warrant for a probation violation.

Tendziegloski, Sommers, and Vanover were all transported to the Kosciusko County Jail.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
