Edward Franklin Nilson, 87, of Greenwood, formerly of Lawrence Co., passed away at 7:04 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.
Born on September 21, 1937, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Roy and Edith (Tanksley) Nilson. He retired from RCA as a Purchase Materials Inspector. He was a Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club member and loved golf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Bob) Brown, of Mooresville; granddaughters Alyssa Gill and Tiffany O’Brien, of Bedford; two step-grandsons, Andy and Alex Brown, both of Mooresville; a great-granddaughter, Presley O’Brien, of Bedford; a great-grandson, Greyson Brown, of Mooresville; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and John Nilson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
