Obituary: Doris Hampton

June 18, 1933 – November 20, 2024

Doris Hampton, 91, of Bedford, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born June 18, 1933, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Russell and Anna (Evans) Swango. She had been a security guard at General Motors and was a member of the New Union Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Hampton, a grand-dog, Twiggie; her grade school friend, Ann Smith; four nephews, Dwight (Teresa) Swango, Dale (Ramona) Swango, David (Susie) Swango, Daren (Melanie) Swango; several great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Reva Gail Swango.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Quincy and Olin Swango; a sister, Mildred Fenander Stone; a niece, Denise Swango; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Fenander and Carl Stone; and a sister-in-law, Mary Swango.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Clarence Brown officiating.
