However, Chase fraud detection intercepted the transaction, and it wasn’t clear. The woman told police she was out of state when the card was used. She believed York had written down her card information before their breakup.

The woman also reported that her employer in Montgomery had fraudulent charges on their debit card that York once had in his possession. York then stated that he had lost the card.

The woman told police that York had admitted on February 9, 2024, that he had made the fraudulent charges on the company debit card and her debit card.

On February 12, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Sgt. Compton attempted to contact York by phone, but York didn’t return his calls.

He called York again on February 13 at 2:30 p.m. and he answered the phone. York admitted he has a gambling problem and he owed the woman money after he lost his paycheck gambling.

He admitted to making the illegal charges on the woman’s card. He said he purchased a gift
card to give back to the woman as his way of paying her back.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
