BNL finishes 12th in Franklin Invitational

FRANKLIN – Bedford North Lawrence finished 12th in the Franklin Invitational during boys high school golf action at The Legends on Saturday.

The Stars posted a team total of 355. No.7 Center Grove won the title with 309, followed by No.6 Westfield (320) and No.20 Carmel (326) in the 17-team field.

Tyler Bellush paced BNL with an 87, Drew McKee carded 88, and Dillon Lewis added an 89.

“It was tough conditions,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “The wind was making it difficult on everybody out there. I’m proud of the way that we battled today. We just have to keep working to get out of this rut we are in. We have next week off, so it’s a great time to get some practice in and build confidence going into the conference tournament.”

Center Grove’s Carson Poe, Franklin’s Matthew Ferguson and Franklin Central’s Aaron Mahoney all shared medalist honors with 2-over 74s.

The Stars will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament at New Albany on May 20.
