Mike Braun wins Republican bid for Indiana governor

INDIANA – Senator Mike Braun will be the Republican candidate in November’s gubernatorial race for Indiana.

Braun received 39.6% of the votes, a significant margin ahead of the other five Republican candidates, reported the Associated Press.

  • Mike Braun: 2446 votes – 46.87%
  • Suzanne Crouch: 939 votes – 17.99%
  • Eric Doden: 882 votes – 16.09%
  • Brad Chambers: 732 votes – 14.03%
  • Curtis Hill: 107 votes – 2.05%
  • Jamie Reilenor: 113 votes – 2.17%

Jennifer McCormick is the state’s former superintendent of public instruction. She is running unopposed. Two other candidates, Donald Rainwater (Libertarian Party) and Christopher Stried (independent), are running to serve as the state’s next governor.

As your governor, I will stand firm in my commitment to the values that define us as Hoosiers,” McCormick said. “I will fight to restore our reproductive rights and freedoms, champion for our kids and ensure Hoosiers earn the wages they deserve. Indiana values reflect those of common sense, civility and bipartisanship. Let’s bring this back to our great state. It’s our time. Let’s go.”

As of 7:05 p.m., the results for the other Republican candidates were:

  • Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s lieutenant governor: 21.43%
  • Brad Chambers, Indiana’s former secretary of commerce: 18.88%
  • Eric Doden, the former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation: 13.59%
  • Jamie Reitenour: 3.83%
  • Curtis Hill, Indiana’s former attorney general: 3.64%.
