KCARS, one of Loogoottee’s largest manufacturing companies, is closing on Friday, May 10

LOOGOOTEE – KCARS, one of Loogoottee’s largest manufacturing companies, is closing its bowling manufacturing facility this week.

According to officials, the plant is closing due to a substantial reduction in demand, leaving a decreased need for manufacturing staff compared to the larger operation in Vincennes. Operations will cease on Friday, May 10.

The plant employs 20 people.

All affected employees will receive notice and support during this transition, whether they seek other employment opportunities at KCARC or outside the organization.

Local government officials expressed disappointment at the plant closing, saying it would impact the community. The closure will leave a significant portion of the 128,000-square-foot building vacant. However, local leaders remain optimistic about the future use of the space, considering options such as incubators or co-working spaces. A Crane contractor, SSI uses 60,000 square feet of the building as a warehouse.

Martin County Alliance is partnering with Workforce Development to host a job fair at the Bowling Manufacturing building on May 29 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
