BNL golfers finish 12th at North Invite

BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence finished 12th in the 15-team Bloomington North Invitational during boys high school golf action at Cascades on Saturday.

The Stars posted a team total of 354. New Albany won the event with 314, followed by Columbus East (317) and Columbus North (323).

“We just couldn’t get anything going,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “We compounded our mistakes, which led to some big numbers. None of the guys had their best stuff, but we have to get better at grinding out a score.

“There’s certain areas around the greens at that course where you don’t want to be, and we found ourselves in those spots a lot.”

Tyler Bellush paced BNL with 85, Parker Foddrill posted 86, and Drew McKee totaled 89.

Columbus North’s Brady Schneider was the medalist with a 1-under 70 while Brownstown’s Micah Shaffer shot 71.

BNL will visit Bloomington South on Thursday.
