BLOOMINGTON— Indiana University Health announced that CarDon & Associates and the Moore-Headley families have donated $1.5 million to IU Health.
The gift creates an endowed fund that will provide sustained support for eldercare programs, services, and resources focusing on people living with dementia. The fund will also support the workforce development of people in the field of eldercare. IU Health will match the gift, bringing its impact to $3 million.
“Caring for the elderly requires a special kind of compassion, dedication, and empathy, and the Moore-Headley family exemplifies these qualities in abundance,” said Denzil Ross, president of IU Health South Central Region. “Their unwavering commitment to the well-being and comfort of our elderly community members is truly commendable.”
CarDon & Associates was founded in 1977 by Carroll and Donna Moore (hence the name Car plus Don) and opened its first senior living community in Greenwood, Ind., in 1977.
Their six children worked in that eldercare community, and today, four of those children – who comprise the Moore-Headley families – carry on their parents’ commitment to quality senior living communities.

The gift was announced during a celebration of the donors on April 30, 2024, and will be facilitated by the IU Health Foundation.
