James K. Wisco, 43, of Martinsville, was arrested at the Morgan County Jail, where his custody was transferred. There was a $5,000 cash bond. A warrant for his arrest had been issued from Morgan County Superior Court II for the following charges:

  • Corrupt Business Influence, a Level 5 Felony (1 Count)
  • Theft, a Level 6 Felony (13 Counts)
  • Counterfeiting, a Level 6 Felony (7 Counts)
  • Official Misconduct, a Level 6 Felony (1 Count)

Master Trooper/Detective Tim Denby initiated the investigation in December 2023 following a meeting with Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega, who had requested the Indiana State Police investigate because he became aware of forgery and theft allegations involving Wisco.

At the time of the investigation’s start, Wisco served as the attorney for Morgan County and was a current member of the Martinsville City Council. Wisco was also a practicing attorney for Foley, Peden, & Wisco.
