On Track: I-69 Finish Line Project Update

INDIANA— Happy Earth Day! The I-69 Finish Line project adds thousands of trees and other plantings along the corridor.

6,600 trees, 1,300 saplings, 185 shrubs, and 826 perennials are being planted along and near I-69 in Johnson County, and more than 1,500 trees will be planted in Marion County.

Trees planted along Smith Valley Road

-465 Lane Closures/Stoppages:

  • Expect nightly double-lane closures and intermittent 20-minute stoppages at various locations on I-465 eastbound and westbound between I-65 and I-70 the evenings of Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26. Closures and stoppages are expected between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for construction activities.  
  • The southbound US 31/East Street ramp to I-465 westbound will remain closed into summer.

Lane Restrictions at SR 144 and Smith Valley Road:

  • On Monday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., SR 37 between Fairview Road and SR 144 will be closed intermittently. These short-term, single-lane closures may affect both northbound and southbound traffic.   
  • Expect daytime single-lane closures on eastbound and westbound Smith Valley Road between SR 37 and Mullinix Road from Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work.
  • Expect daytime eastbound and westbound single-lane closures on SR 144 between Old SR 37 and Eastern Service Road from Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work.
  • Be aware that active flagging crews will be on the Eastern and Western Service Roads between County Line Road and SR 144 on Tuesday, April 23, through Friday, April 26, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to install permanent right-of-way markers.
