Sergent Nick Albrecht – Livesaving Award

Trooper Sergent Nick Albrecht

Sergeant Nick Albrecht was recognized and received a Lifesaving Award.  On September 17, 2023, Sergeant Albrecht and Muncie Police Sergeant Daniel Vogel arrived at a shooting incident in Muncie, Indiana, where multiple people were shot.

Sergeant Albrecht came to the first victim and assessed a gunshot wound to their chest with no exit wound.  Sergeant Albrecht applied a medical chest seal on the victim and placed them into the recovery position.  At some point, the victim stopped breathing.  Sergent Albrecht began to perform CPR.  Sergeant Vogel took over CPR, and Sergent Albrecht went to check for other victims.

Sergeant Albrecht discovered a female victim shot in the upper leg.  The female had a tourniquet applied to her leg. However, Albrecht placed a second tourniquet to stop the bleeding.  Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the victims to local hospitals.
