Speeding leads to drug charges

BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing drug charges after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood stopped his vehicle Thursday after clocking him speeding in the area of Mitchell Road and 22nd Street.

Deputy Trueblood stopped the driver at N Street and Mitchell Road. The driver was 21-year-old Conner Parsons.

Deputy Trueblood said the vehicle smelled of marijuana. Deputy Andrew Tillett responded to assist in the vehicle search. During the search, police found a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm handgun, a bottle that contained cocaine, several smoking devices with THC wax, and several containers containing THC wax, pills, and marijuana.

Parsons was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine or narcotic drugs, possession of marijuana/hash oil, possession of a legend drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle was released to one of Parsons’ family members.
