Probation officers conduct home visit, Bedford man detained, warrants issued for two others

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested after probation officers requested police officers to a home in the 500 block of 22nd Street on Sunday, April 7.

According to Bedford Police Officer Michael Bell, probation officers Tumey and Shew were conducting a house check on Damien York. While searching the home, the probation officers found two individuals in the basement area, Austin Smith and Chelsay Linton, along with drug paraphernalia.

The items included several glass smoking pipes with meth residue, a broken red and white pen used to ingest drugs, and broken glass smoking pipes. A crystal meth bag was found on the floor near the entrance to a bathroom. Smith and York had been in the bathroom area after probation officers arrived.

York said the crystal meth was not his but Smith’s. Linton and Smith both denied the meth or other items were theirs.
