Man arrested after the unlawful use of 911

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Saturday after he used the 911 emergency call system.

Brandon Arthur

Brandon Arthur, 32, Bedford, was detained on a charge of unlawful use of 911.

According to Bedford Police Officer Sarah Haluda, on Saturday, April 13, at 1:40 p.m., officers were notified that Arthur had called 911 from a disconnected number and stated, “I found someone to f*** with my neighbor. I hope you know I’m going to take care of it since you won’t.” Arthur then hung up abruptly.

Arthur did not identify himself to the Bedford Police Dispatcher. However, he was easily identified by his voice due to his numerous previous calls regarding his perceived issues with his
neighbors.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Ted Jones Drive and contacted Arthur. He initially denied
making the call, stating that he had just woken up. Arthur was taken into custody and placed in the back
of a patrol vehicle. Arthur was transported to the Bedford Police Department for booking, and the
Lawrence County Jail for housing.

While at the jail, Arthur admitted to making the call. He said he made the 911 call “after hearing voices in his head and believed those voices to be his neighbors.”

Arthur also acknowledged that multiple Officers with the Bedford Police Department had advised him that he could not continue to call 911 for non-emergency reasons on numerous occasions.

Since January 1, 2024, Arthur has been listed as the complainant on 80 calls for service to the Bedford Police Department.
