Fight during road crew detail lands teen in juvenile detention center

BEDFORD – A Bedford teen was arrested after he attacked another male while working on a juvenile road crew detail on Saturday on Oolitic Road.

Bedford Police officers responded after the roadcrew advisor reported the incident at 2:53 p.m.

Police detained a 15-year-old male on charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

Bedford Police Officers Taylor Daugherty and Captain Kody Emmons responded to Wiley Park. Once there, Probation Officer Ashley Bridges reported that two males got into a verbal argument, which turned physical.

To diffuse the situation, she separated the two and contacted one of the male’s guardians to pick him up. Once the guardian arrived, she walked one male to the vehicle. He continued to yell and said he was “going to beat” the other boy. He then pulled away from Probation Officer Bridges and ran toward the other male, hitting him.

The other male suffered several punches to the cheek and jaw area and the right side of his face.

The detained male was transported to Dickinson Juvenile Justice Center.
