Former Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy requests change of venue for jury trial

MARTIN COUNTY— Former Lawrence County Sheriff Deputy Jon D. Flynn, Crane, Indiana, requested a change of venue for his jury trial, which has been tentatively scheduled for July 16, 2024, in Martin County Circuit Court.

On February 7, 2024, Judge Isha E. Wright disclosed a familial relationship with the Prosecutor to which neither the State of Indiana nor the attorney for Jon Flynn objected to the Judge presiding on the case at the time.

The change of venue is unrelated to that matter.

Flynn is being represented by Bedford Attorneys Scott Callahan and Katie Simon a hearing that was scheduled on April 2, 2024, has been continued by Martin County

Flynn faces the following charges:

  • Battery with body injury to Public Safety Officer, a Level 5 Felony
  • Intimidation: Communicated because of victim’s occupation, a Level 6 Felony
  • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 Felony
  • Resisting law enforcement by knowingly/intentionally forcibly resist, or obstruct, a Level 1 Felony
  • Escape, a Level 5 Felony
  • Intimidation, a Level 1 Felony
  • Criminal mischief was added following his arrest

The case stems from Flynn’s arrest on Sunday, February 4, 2024, after the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Loogootee Police Department, and Indiana State Police responded to Flynn’s home on Blandy Street in Crane, Indiana, on an open burn complaint.
