Man arrested after admitting to skip- scanning and changing price tags at Walmart

BEDFORD – A Bedford man faces three counts of theft after police say he stole more than $500 in merchandise from Walmart.

Jarrod Feathers

Police arrested Jarrod Feathers, 35, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Bedford Police Department Detective Major Kye Louden investigated the accusations. He reviewed receipts, documents, photos, and security footage of the thefts.

Police say Feathers committed the thefts on November 18, November 26, and December 15, 2023. He is accused of ticket-switching items with lower-priced price tags.

On those days, police found Feathers entering the store, purchasing a few items at their regular price, and then skipping scanning items or using a lower-priced item for others.

During one transaction, Feathers allegedly paid for $142.28 of items and stole $343.53. In another transaction, Feathers is seen purchasing $49.16 in items and stealing $129.00 worth of items. During a third transaction, Feathers purchased $14.92 in items and stole $73.72 in items.

Police contacted Feathers by phone, but he denied the allegations. Major Key told Feathers he would meet with him and show him the videos that captured the thefts. Feathers did admit he had switched the price on a crossbow and the other thefts, but he wouldn’t provide a reason for the thefts.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Feathers’ arrest.
