Man arrested after allegedly dragging woman out of a house by her legs

BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing a charge of battery causing moderate bodily injury.

Bedford Police officers arrested 47-year-old Timothy Ortiz on Tuesday, April 2.

According to Bedford Police Officer Aaron Manke, officers were called to the 500 block of Oolitic Road after a report of a domestic dispute.

A woman told police that Ortiz had dragged her out of the house by her legs. The woman said she was able to get away from Otiz and ran to a neighbor’s house, who called the police.

The woman had visible scratches and cuts on her arms but refused medical treatment.

Also responding was Capt. Drew Lemke and Officer Derek Blackwell.

Police learned that Ortiz had left the scene before police arrived.

Officer Sarah Haluda later found Ortiz at an apartment in the 2000 block of 30th Street and he was detained without incident.

Ortiz denied ever touching the woman and stated she had been using a significant amount of Xanax, and that she attempted to mace him in the backyard.
