Obituary: Willena Cook


August 26, 1956 – April 2, 2024

Willena A. Cook, 67, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. at the IU Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born August 26, 1956, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Willis R. Langley and Stella (Deckard) Langley. She married John Cook, and he survives. Willena is of Christian faith and loves gardening, flowers, and buying and selling antiques. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed the last 33 years with her husband, John, a good husband, caregiver, and companion.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Willena are her husband, John Cook; two daughters, Michelle Owens of California and Melissa (Chad) Smith of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Dylan and Alex Smith; Five siblings, Karen Lasley, Tereasa (Dan) Polley, Tony Langley, Allen (Christine) Langley, Sheila (Randy) Lane; along with several nieces and nephews.

Willena was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Pastor Curtis Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
