Woman arrested after asking the police chief just to ‘throw away my meth’

MITCHELL – A Williams woman was arrested on Sunday, March 28, after Mitchell Police Chief Troy Lobosky responded to Persimmon Park Apartments at 10:21 a.m. after a request by management to check an apartment.

The apartment manager reported the resident was out of town, but several people were going in and out of the apartment.

When Chief Lobosky arrived, he found 40-year-old Karen Moore inside the apartment. Moore told police she was “house-sitting” for the tenant.

Chief Lobosky then noticed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette on the table with a roach clip. When asked if anyone else was in the apartment, Moore said another person was asleep in the bedroom.

When Chief Lobosky picked up the marijuana cigarette, Moore grabbed it from his hand and asked if she could throw it away, to which Chief Lobosky said no.

At this time, a male, Michael Stamper, opened the bedroom door.

Stamper admitted there was more marijuana in the bedroom. He retrieved it for Chief Lobosky.

Moore then admitted she had meth in the bedroom she was staying in. Chief Lobosky found a baggy of crystal meth and two straws used to snort the drug.

Moore was placed in handcuffs and said several times, “It’s only a tenth; just throw it away.”

Stamper was issued a summons to appear in court on Tuesday, April 2, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Moore was transported to jail on a charge of possession of meth.
