Dubois County Sheriff’s Office warns public about phone scam

DUBOIS CO. – The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam in which the caller falsely identifies himself as Sergeant Sullivan from the sheriff’s office.

The caller demands compliance with vague requests and threatens arrest if instructions are not followed.

The sheriff’s office reminds the public that law enforcement will never demand immediate action or payment over the phone.

Callers from the sheriff’s office will always identify themselves correctly and provide verifiable contact information.

If you receive such a threatening call, do not give out personal information or comply with demands.

Hang up immediately and report it to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office at 812-482-3522.
