Lawrence County Commissioners approved contracts

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners approved a three-year contract with ESI for the county’s phone service.

“We were looking into the contract,” added Fish. “We have been with this group for five years and are looking at what to do in the future. We have a proposed contract available for $4,355 a month. We want to make sure we are doing the right thing. They wanted a five-year contract, but we opted for a three-year contract.”

Left to Right: Auditor Paula Stewart, Commissioner Dustin Gabhart, President Wally Branham, Vice President Rodney Fish, County Attorney David Smith.

The contract will be drafted at a reduced cost and approved at a future meeting.

The commissioners approved a contract with Spring Valley Landscape to care for the trees, scrubs, and beds at the Lawrence County Courthouse. The cost will be two payments of $3,367.43.

The Commissioners also made the final payment to AT&T to bring broadband to the western part of Lawrence County. More than 535 homes will be provided service.

“This has been a three-year project,” said Commissioner Rodney Fish. “There are other options, and we will continue to work so everyone has broadband.”
