On Track: I-69 Finish Line Project Update

INDIANA – On Thursday, March 14, Gov. Eric J. Holcomb, INDOT Commissioner Mike Smith, and members of the I-69 Finish Line project team signed one of the final steel bridge girders that will be hung later this week to form the I-69/I-465 system interchange.

Once complete, the interchange will connect I-69 to I-465, allowing traffic to flow freely between the corridors. This will positively impact the region’s economic stability, opening new growth opportunities for the State of Indiana and providing a quicker, safer commute for motorists.

In 2024, most activity will be focused on building the new interchange, paving the I-69 mainline north of Southport Road, creating westbound travel lanes on I-465 between I-65 and I-70, and reconstructing the I-465 westbound bridges over the White River and Harding Street.

The entire corridor between Martinsville and Indianapolis will open by 2024.
