Obituary: Dan L. Parker

Dan L. Parker, 91, a resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his home in New Albany with family by his side.

He was born in Bedford to the late Helen and Charles Parker and went on to graduate from Indiana University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was the Editor of the Sullivan Daily Times, Past President of the Indiana Democratic Editorial Association, Commissioner of the Indiana Athletic Commission, a Life Member of the BPO Elks, an Officer in the United States Air Force, the Pendennis Club, the Racquet Club of El Conquistador and was a Sagamore of the Wabash.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Jamison Parker, his son, John D. Parker, and his sister, Barbara Turner.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Eloise Richardson Parker, his son, Jeffrey J. (Beth) Parker, his brother, David (Susan) Parker, his grandchildren, Dan, Sara, Alexandra, Ross, and Drew Parker, step-daughter, Rachel (Jason) Ferrazzi, step-son Erin (Leslie Witt) Kelley, step-grandchildren, Gabby and Eloise Ferrazzi, Violet Kelley and Isaiah Mickelson.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Cresthaven Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be given to in Dan’s memory to The Boys and Girls Club of America, the Floyd County Animal Rescue League (FCARL), or a United Methodist Church of the donor’s choice.
