According to a probable cause affidavit, on that day at 3:47 p.m., Bedford Police officers were requested to the 300 block of 17th Street after a report of a blonde woman acting erratically and possibly under the influence of drugs.

When officers arrived, they were unable to find the woman.

At 4:05 p.m., dispatch received a second report of a blond woman who may have overdosed at the intersection of 17th and H Streets.

At 4:08 p.m. Bedford Police Officer Jarrett Tedrow found Lane walking east on 17th Street near E Street.

Officer Tedrow said Lane was unsteady and her speech was slurred. She denied taking anything illegal but said she had taken Suboxone. She refused an ambulance.

Lane let the police search her, and they found a baggie of marijuana in her pocket and a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in her Marlboro cigarette pack. Police also found a sticky note in the cellophane of the cigarette pack that contained a brown powdery substance that tested positive for heroin.

Lane said the cigarettes were given to her by a male, and the items inside were not hers.

Lane was detained and transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing. While en route, Lane kept falling asleep and would wake up and then fall asleep again. She was transported to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation. Once medically cleared she was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
