County approves the need for a comprehensive financial plan

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Council voted 4-2 in favor of contracting with BakerTilly to develop a Comprehensive Financial Plan for the county before the 2025 budget hearings.

Lawrence County Auditor Paula Stewart requested an overview of the county’s finances, including a proposed capital improvement plan for department and county needs.

BakerTilley will be paid $35,000 for their work on the Comprehensive Financial Plan, which the council decided against the Capital Improvement Plan at this time, with an additional cost of $15,000.

The plan would give officials a clean projection of revenue and expenses for the next five years. They would also be able to see each department’s long-range needs.
