The Star System Percussion places second at Center Grove competition

BEDFORD – On Saturday, March 9th, the Bedford North Lawrence (BNL) Star System Percussion group performed their show Piano Man at Center Grove High School.

The Star System Percussion is a winter percussion group that goes to competitions and plays similar to marching bands but instead uses percussion instruments and performs in gymnasiums.  Their show Piano Man features the song Piano Man by Billy Joel, Fur Elise by Beethoven, and Moonlight Sonata by Mozart.

Many performers and instruments are a part of the Star System Percussion. 

  • Auxiliary Percussion – Mason Couch and Owen Walker
  • Electric Bass – Sebastian Hood
  • Marching Bass Drums – Gabriel Dixon, Jacob Burrus, Landon Hill, and Mason Knoy
  • Marching Snare Drums – Clayton Schaefer, Owen Harper, and Stanlee Thompson-Bell
  • Marching Tenor Drums – Jaymee Reed and Levi Skees
  • Marimba – Isaac Strange and Vivienne Scarpellini
  • Piano – José Cruz
  • Synthesizer – Lilly Livingston
  • Vibraphone – Zahra Girgis and Deacon Burgess
  • Bells – Kylie Rincker

 They placed second out of the competing groups that performed with a score of 70.400.  Terre Haute North finished first only 1.2 points in front of the Star System Percussion. 

Their next performance will be a public performance on Friday, March 15th, at Bedford North Lawrence High School in the main gym at 7:00 p.m.  The BMS Guard and BNL Winter Guard will also be performing their shows.  You can support the Star System Percussion and Guard and view the show free of charge.
