BEDFORD – On Wednesday, February 21, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood learned that 25-year-old Brady Sullivan was in a red Ford Galaxy headed to Tunnelton from Mitchell.
Deputy Trueblood said Sullivan was wanted on a Level 6 felony warrant for resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a motor vehicle.
Officers had received information Sullivan was armed and made threats towards law enforcement.
Captain Harrison Fleetwood, Deputy Josh Rhoades, Deputy Brenten Trueblood, and Deputy Andrew Tillett parked their police vehicle on Wilcox Road near Tunnelton Bono Road and Wilcox Road, waiting for Sullivan.
Captain Lonnie Johnson, Deputy Robin Compton, and Deputy Kenton Carter parked their police vehicles at the intersection of Tunnelton Bono and River Road in preparation to deploy stop sticks.
At approximately 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, officers observed Sullivan’s vehicle traveling north on Tunnelton Bono Road.
Captain Fleetwood, Officers Trueblood, Rhoades, and Tillett immediately began to follow the vehicle. Officer Trueblood advised the deputies at the other intersection the car was coming.
Captain Johnson, Officer Compton, and Officer Carter activated their overhead emergency lights and got in position to attempt to stop the vehicle and prevent it from fleeing. When the car came to the
the intersection of Tunnelton, Bono, and River Road, Sullivan turned off his headlights and refused to stop.
Officer Compton deployed stop sticks, and Sullivan drove off-road between Captain Johnson and Officer Carter’s vehicles and towards Lowland Drive. All Officers involved pursued Sullivan.
Officers Carter and Tillett located the vehicle backward down an embankment at Lowland Drive and Sunset Street intersection. North of the car, officers found 30-year-old Jacy R. Taylor of Springville hiding in the woods, and she was detained.
Police, canines, and a state police helicopter responded to the scene and searched for Sullivan, but they could not locate him.
During a search of Sullivan’s vehicle, police found a glass container with THC wax, two smoking devices with THC residue, a 12-gauge shotgun, two bags containing 35 grams of marijuana, and jewelry inside a jewelry box. They also located Sullivan’s wallet with his identification inside.
In Taylor’s purse, which was found in the woods, police found pills and a syringe loaded with meth.
Taylor was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a legend drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, and resisting law enforcement.
A warrant has been issued for Sullivan’s arrest on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing in a vehicle, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued citations for a headlight violation, expired registration, and false or fictitious registration.
