PAOLI – On Monday, February 19, officers with the Paoli Police Department conducted a traffic stop on US 150 East that landed a woman behind bars on meth charges.

Karla Backus

Police arrested Karla Backus after finding two grams of meth on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

According to Chief Randy Sanders, officers have noticed a recent rise in drug-related incidents and arrests.

“The Department will continue to combat the drug abuse problems on our side through enforcement actions,” said Chief Sanders. ” However, we still urge the community to also help us combat these issues by reaching out to family or friends who may struggle with addiction and drug abuse and offer them a friendly voice and suggest local resources or programs to help them with their situation.

We also appeal to those who struggle with this situation to seek help themselves before we have to intervene. We understand some situations are just too difficult to handle on your own.

Our officers often inform the citizens that we arrest on drug charges to seek help or look into the Safe Haven Recovery Pamphlets that are kept at the jail. However, it can sometimes help for a more familiar voice to offer the same suggestions.”
