Obituary: Mary R. ‘Rose’ (Cecil) Henderson

February 29, 1936 – February 20, 2024

Mary R. “Rose” (Cecil) Henderson, 87, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:22 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Stonecroft Health Campus.

Born February 29, 1936, in Springville, she was the daughter of Bradley and Essie (Jackson) Burnette. She married Kenneth Turner on December 17, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1974. She married Jim Cecil on May 11, 1975, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2010. She then married Max Henderson on September 7, 2011, and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2018.

Mary was a line worker at Cummins Engine Co. She retired from IU Health in Bloomington, where she had worked in the sterilization area.

Survivors include four children, Ermina Davis, of Seymour; Jeff Turner, of Seymour; Kimberly Wood and husband, Jason, of Spencer, and Kenneth Turner, of Columbus; six grandchildren, Greg Warner, Jason Warner, Kayla Turner, Ryan Turner and Nakyia, Shaina Allman and Chase, and Keelyn Turner; seven great-grandchildren, Delanee Turner, Benny Turner, Chandler Warner, Shailyn Turner, Laityn Turner, Parker Allman, and Jailey Schoonover; a brother, Bill Burnette, of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, and two brothers, Darrell and Jack Burnette.

With Russell Burnette officiating, funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
