Monroe County CARES hosts panel on substance misuse: Trends amongst Monroe County youth

BLOOMINGTON – Monroe County CARES will host a panel discussion on substance misuse trends seen among local youth on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Nat U. Hill Room in the Monroe County Courthouse, 100 West Kirkwood, in Bloomington.

Panelists will be Leah Sheetz from Overdose Lifeline, Cathy Greene from Al-Anon/Alateen, Amanda Vanleeuwen from Monroe County Department of Child Services, and Lasaundra McCoy from Monroe County Community School Corporation.

Monroe County CARES distributes grants each year to local agencies that work to reduce substance use in prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and justice.

Monroe County CARES is the local coordinating council for the Governor’s Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana. It was established to coordinate, support, and promote local efforts to prevent and reduce harmful involvement with alcohol and other drugs.
