Man arrested after infant suffers life-threatening brain injuries

Crawford County – On Monday, February 12, Indiana State Police arrested 26-year-old Cameron Watts, of English after a report of an injured infant.

ISP Detective Sergeant Brock Werne was contacted by the Crawford County Department of Child Services about an investigation into the battering of an infant. The infant required immediate medical attention at the Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, for severe, life-threatening brain injuries.

Throughout the next few days, information and evidence were obtained to support charges filed by the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Monday, February 16, 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Watts, and he was arrested at the Crawford County Department of Child Services without incident. He was transported to the Crawford County Jail, where he is being held on charges of Domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury of a person less than 14 years old, a Level 3 felony, and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 3 felony.
