Obituary: Monta Sue Wagner

Monta Sue Wagner, 79, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord at IU
Health Paoli Hospital on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Born and raised in Lawrence County, she married the love of her life, Leland Wagner on June
28, 1960. Together they had four beautiful children.

Together, they traveled the country while Leland worked construction, where
they gained many friends and family along the way. Her home place
eventually became Ocklawaha, FL, which she came to love so much. They
retired there and were known to love and help so many in the community.

She was a beloved Little Dove Baptist Church member and was very
involved in the children’s ministry until returning to Bedford to be closer to
her family. She had worked as a cook at K-Mart and The Three Pigs.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Sue are her sons, Robert “Bill” Wagner
(Heidi) of Bedford, IN, David Wagner (Ann) of Leakesville, MS, Harold
Wagner (Martina) of Dunn, NC, and son-in-law, Don Pate of Bedford, IN.
Grandchildren are Anthony Wagner (Ashley), Zachary Wagner (Kayla),
Danielle Skaggs (Cameron), Christopher Pate, Brandy Colgan, Kayla
Wagner, Megan Wade (Noah), Justin Wagner (Hattie), and Gracie Wagner.
She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Leland on December 20, 2023;
her parents; her daughter, Cheryl Wagner Pate; and sisters, Lou Callahan
and Gayle Worrell.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, at
the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with
Brother Kerry Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Pinhook Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be from 11:00 am until the service time on Monday
at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
