February’s Church Spotlight: Bedford’s Hillcrest Christian Church

BEDFORD- Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford, Indiana, is a beacon of faith and community. Established in 1966 with a mission to nurture spiritual growth and serve the local community, it offers a welcoming atmosphere for worship, fellowship, and outreach. With a commitment to spreading love and compassion, Hillcrest engages in various charitable activities and programs, positively impacting the lives of individuals and families in Bedford and beyond.

Led by Senior Minister Mark Fugate, Hillcrest’s mission statement is “To know Jesus, and to make Jesus known. An impressive new facility was built alongside and connected to the existing space, and construction was finished in 2020. The new building houses a modern sanctuary, classrooms, and areas to congregate or hold meetings or church events. A cafe serves refreshments for parishioners and is an excellent place for fellowship.

Darrick Willoughby

Darrick Willoughby is the youth/college-age minister who is passionate about teaching the love of Christ. Growing up in the church and now being the youth minister for 27 years at Hillcrest, Darrick has the experience of connecting with the young people in our community. “You’ve got to do some things they want to be a part of,” he said. Whether it’s attending Wonder Valley Christian Camp, a theme park, or doing mission work, that goal is accomplished through the efforts of Willoughby and volunteers who donate their time and resources.

Hillcrest Christian Church is an active community of like-minded individuals. Men’s and women’s groups, church league sports, shuffleboard, and a senior adult group are just a few things they have going on regularly.
