Obituary: Benjamin Joseph Mattingly

Benjamin Joseph Mattingly passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home in Bloomington, Indiana at the age of 10 months.

Since birth, Benjamin had struggled with a rare heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. After undergoing multiple open heart surgeries and spending a lot of time at Riley Hospital for Children, he succumbed to the complications that arose from his condition. He was able to spend his final moments at home, being held in the arms of his parents, Tim Mattingly and Taylor Timbrook, who gently rocked him and soothed him with words of love and encouragement as he took his last breaths.

During his life, Bennie grew to be a smiley, curious, and talkative little baby boy. He loved being held, watching Mickey Mouse, playing with his toys, being read to, going on walks, and playing games with his mom, dad, grandparents, and other caretakers.

He is survived by his parents, Tim Mattingly and Taylor Timbrook. He is also survived by his grandparents, Linda Dausend, Joseph Timbrook, and Dan and Mary Mattingly.

The family will hold a small private ceremony at home. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please send donations to Colton’s Kindness.
