Man sees prison time after committing new crime while on probation

BEDFORD – A Bedford man will spend time in prison after committing a new crime while he was on probation.

On February 14, 2023, Kristin Lester, 47, Bedford, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 6 felony, with a habitual offender enhancement, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement. The plea agreement offered Lester 3,832 days in prison, with 3,510 days suspended. He was given credit for 139 actual days served.

However, while on probation, Lester was charged with criminal trespass, a Class A misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty to that charge on February 1, 2024, in a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. He was sentenced to 30 days in the Lawrence County Jail. He admitted to violating the terms of his probation.

As a result of his guilty plea, Judge Cline revoked Lester’s suspended sentence sentenced him to 3,300 days in the IDOC, and terminated the probation as unsuccessful. The two sentences are to run consecutively.
